‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOL’ : RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAMME AT SJK(C) PAI CHAI, BATU FERIGGHI, PULAU PINANG – 18TH APRIL 2024

On April 18, 2024, Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully conducted the ‘Negalitres for Schools’ River and Water Education Programme at SJK (C) Pai Chai. The program engaged a total of 48 students and 3 teachers from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm. Mr. Hanson Yeoh, the WWP Programme Officer, led the session, supported by WWP interns Mr. Dane Lim Chiu Tong, Ms. Fatin Azahara, and Ms. Nur Atiqah.

The session began with an informative overview of WWP’s mission and past activities. It then delved into discussions on global, national, and local water crises, emphasizing water scarcity as a collective challenge requiring unified action. The focus shifted to Penang’s own water scarcity issues, highlighting Sungai Muda in Kedah as its primary water source, underscoring the pressing nature of the situation.

‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOL’ : RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAMME AT SJK(C) LI HWA, BUTTERWORTH, PULAU PINANG – 17TH APRIL 2024

On April 17, 2024, Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully organized the ‘Negalitres for School’ River and Water Education Programme at SJKC Li Hwa. The event involved 500 students from Standards 4 to 6 along with 15 teachers, and ran from 1.20 pm to 2.20 pm. Mr. Hanson Yeoh, the WWP Programme Officer, led the session, supported by WWP interns Mr. Dane Lim Chiu Tong, Ms. Fatin Azahara, and Ms. Nur Atiqah. The session commenced with a thorough overview of WWP’s objectives and past endeavors.

Sharing Session with Penang Green Council on AQUA SAVE AWARENESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME

On June 22, 2023, Water Watch Penang conducted a sharing session with the Penang Green Council on the ‘AQUA SAVE AWARENESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR PENANG GREEN OFFICE CERTIFICATION.’

The Penang Green Council is one of WWP’s main partners and collaborators, and it is the main implementor of the Penang Green Office (PGO) Certification. PGO’s certification is conducted in conjunction with the Aqua Save Certification under PBAPP and the Penang State Government’s initiative to recognize industries and organizations that are dedicated to water conservation activities.

During this session, Water Watch Penang presented and discussed the awareness component as well as the water audit component based on the Aqua Save Criteria. The session was attended by a total of 15 staff members from the Penang Green Council, including the General Manager, Ms. Josephine.

The session also included calculations of water bills, ways to reduce water consumption, and a general discussion aimed at creating a water-saving society in Penang.

Water Watch Penang would like to express gratitude to the Penang Green Council and PBAPP for providing this opportunity to contribute to the public’s education regarding the Aqua Save Certification Programme.

AMD-PGC WEBINAR: Your Household Water Usage And Conservation: What Can You Do? – 16 October 2022, Zoom Platform

16 October 2022: A seminar titled “Your Household Usage and Conservation: What Can You Do? “, was conducted online by Water Watch Penang via invitation by Penang Green Council for AMD. The webinar was attended by a total of 50 attendees consisting of employees from AMD Malaysia.

PGC Exhibition at Kampung Permatang Nibong, Permatang Pauh – 25th September 2022

25th September 2022: Water Watch Penang was invited by Penang Green Council (PGC) and its programme partner, Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai (MBSP), for an exhibition for the community event held at Kampung Permatang Nibong in conjunction with World River Day (every fourth Sunday of September). Audiences primarily locals from Kampung Permatang Nibong, spanning from children to retirees, attended the event.
