Water Watch Penang has been awarded a year-long program aimed at educating the public and school children in the KL & Selangor area about the significance of rivers and water. Through this initiative, Salcon Berhad exemplifies their commitment to increasing awareness among the younger generations regarding water-related issues. For 14 years, until 2023, Water Watch Penang and Salcon Berhad joined forces in executing the Smart Water Programme.
Usually, the programme is located at Taman Persekutuan Bukit Kiara. The purpose of this programme is to educate and share information with the students from different schools about rivers and water on a global, regional, and local level, with a particular emphasis on Selangor. Dr. Hong Chern Wern, the Executive Manager of Water Watch Penang, served as the programme’s lead, assisted by various trained facilitators, from Selangor and Penang.
