4 July 2022: Water Watch Penang has successfully conducted a geography field work for the year 10 students (Form 4 equivalent) of Prince of Wales Island International Schools at Taman Jajar, Sungai Ara, Pulau Pinang.
The programme was attended by a total of 22 students participants and two teachers, and the facilitator involved in this field work was Dr Hong Chern Wern, Executive Manager at Water Watch Penang. This programme was also assissted by two trained volunteers, Nursyazana and Azilah from Universiti Sains Malaysia.
2 July 2022: River education programme has been successfully held by Water Watch Penang in partnership with Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai (MBSP) where this educational programme has been conducted face-to-face for secondary school, SMK Simpang Empat students at Cherok Tokkun, Pulau Pinang.
The programme was attended by a total of 30 students and 5 teachers and facilitated by Dr. Hong Chern Wern, from Water Watch Penang and assisted by 4 trained volunteers/facilitators, Mr Sharvind, Ms Nursyazana, Ms Azilah and Ms Farah.
28 June 2022: Water Watch Penang has conducted a ‘River Ranger’ programme via Intel CSR Programme for INTEL employees at Quarry Park, Penang. This was the first face-to-face programme conducted after the 2-year pandemic in Malaysia.
The programme was attended by a total of 38 participants and the facilitator involved in giving a talk was Dr. Hong Chern Wern, from Water Watch Penang assisted by Mr. Linges and Comms Intern, Ms. Nursyazana.
25 June 2022: A total students from SMK Damansara Damai, as well as several teachers, took part in the programme organised by Salcon and Water Watch Penang in Taman Kiara, Kuala Lumpur from 8 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
This programme entering its 12th year partnership with Salcon Berhad, was aimed to educate the students in river and water education in this case, involving global, national and locally, Selangor.
A total of 12 participants from Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP), Jabatan Pengaliran dan Saliran (JPS-PERLIS), Lembaga Sumber Air Negeri Kedah, Lembaga Urus Air Selangor, Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam, and WWF-Malaysia participated in the training course programme Introduction to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) at the School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) for three days starting from June 13 to 15 June 2022.
The programme aims to provide information sharing on the water in Malaysia in collaboration with the Water Watch Penang (WWP), UNESCO CPI, and supported by the Global Environment Center (GEC) and the School of Humanities, USM.
