‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOLS’- RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAM AT SK DATO KRAMAT- 2ND AUGUST 2023

On 2nd August 2023, Water Watch Penang (WWP) organized an educational program on rivers and water at SK Dato Kramat as part of the Negalitres for Schools Programme. The program was attended by a total of 300 students from Standard 4, 5, and 6, along with 5 teachers. Dr. Hong Chern Wern, the executive manager of Water Watch Penang, conducted the education session in Bahasa Melayu.

During the session, Dr. Hong began by introducing WWP’s history, objectives, and past activities. He also presented various water-related facts, including global, national, and local water crises, water conservation strategies, and other related issues.

Furthermore, Dr. Hong taught the students how to calculate their household’s daily water consumption from the water bill, enabling them to understand their water usage. He also provided tips on how to conserve water at both school and home while emphasizing the importance of using water wisely for environmental preservation.

‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOLS’: RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAMME AT SK JALAN HAMILTON PENANG

5 JULY 2023 – Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully conducted the ‘Negalitres for Schools’ River and Water Education Programme for students from SK Jalan Hamilton Penang on 5th July 2023. 

A total of 47 students ranging from standard four to standard six and 4 teachers participated in the programme from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm.

Clean International, which is one of the programme’s partners and funder, was also present for the talk, all the way from California, USA. The President, Ms Heather Baker, Co-Founder Mr Wally Baker and their two children (cum volunteer) Ms Alivia Baker and Mr Brody Baker came to participate in the talk and to interview the students.

AQUA SAVE AWARENESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR PENANG GREEN OFFICE CERTIFICATION FOR GREATECH INTEGRATION (M) SDN BHD

15 June 2023 – Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully organised the Aqua Save Awareness Education Programme for Penang Green Office Certification for two of Greatech Integration (M) Sdn Bhd factories at Bayan Lepas and Seberang Perai on 14th and 15th June 2023 respectively.

A total of 87 employees participated in the programme from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The Aqua Save Awareness Education Programme is a free talk organised by WWP in collaboration with Penang Green Council (PGC) and Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) for organisations who signed up for Penang Green Office certification. The programme which was launched in 2009 is an initiative of PBAPP in collaboration with the Penang State Government to award industries and organisations which are committed to water conservation activities.

‘NEGALITRES FOR SCHOOLS’: RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAMME AT SK FRANCIS LIGHT PENANG

7 JUNE 2023 – Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully conducted the ‘Negalitres for Schools’ River and Water Education Programme for students from SK Francis Light Penang on 7th June 2023. 

WWP Executive Manager Dr Hong Chern Wern commenced the talk by introducing WWP’s history, goals, and past activities. He also presented on the global, national and local water crisis, water facts, water conservation strategies, roles of rivers and other water-related issues.

A total of 200 students ranging from standard four to standard six participated in the programme from 11.10 am to 1.10 pm.

RIVER AND WATER EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR SMITH & NEPHEW OPERATIONS SDN BHD

27th May 2023 –Water Watch Penang (WWP) successfully organised a river and water education programme for Smith & Nephew Operations Sdn Bhd’s first-ever Family Day at the Penang Botanic Gardens on 27th May 2023.

A total of 30 employees and their family members participated in the programme from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm. WWP Executive Manager Dr Hong Chern Wern served as the programme’s lead facilitator with assistance from four other facilitators, Ms Puteri Nur Atiqah Bandira, Ms Ong Ke Shin, Ms Adeline Chong Neian and Mr Sharvind Sivan, the Comms Intern, Ms Lee Tze Ee and volunteers from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Roots & Shoots Malaysia (RASMA) and SK Bukit Gambir, Penang.
