Two-Day Exhibition Focused on Raising Awareness about Water Conservation in Conjunction with Intel Malaysia Safety Week 2024 – 7th and 9th May 2024

Water Watch Penang is honored to have been invited to raise awareness about water conservation as part of Intel Malaysia Safety Week, participating as one of the exhibitors on May 7th and 9th, 2024, at the Bayan Lepas and Kulim plants respectively. Representing Water Watch Penang were Dr. Hong Chern Wern, the Executive Manager of WWP, along with interns from UMK, Ms. Atiqah and Ms. Fatin.

During this two-day exhibition, WWP aimed to educate Intel staff and general participants about water issues and challenges in Penang, with the goal of fostering a water-saving society. In addition to sharing WWP’s past achievements, representatives interacted with participants to explain that despite Penang’s classification as a water-poor region, significant water wastage occurs due to the remarkably low domestic tariff. WWP also provided insights into the recent tariff hike in Penang and Malaysia as a whole.

Furthermore, WWP highlighted successful Intel’s partnership in the Negalitres for Schools Programme and Intel River Ranger Programme. Various water-saving videos and past winners of the TikTok Water Saving competitions were presented to guide participants in water-saving initiatives. As part of a continuous partnership with PBAPP, WWP distributed water-saving kits and guidebooks for water conservation, accompanied by explanations and guidance from WWP.

Water Watch Penang extends its gratitude to Intel Malaysia for the invitation to these two-day exhibitions. For further inquiries, please contact Dr. Hong Chern Wern, Executive Manager of WWP, at hong.wwp@gmail.com or +6019-5751253.
