AQUA SAVE AWARENESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR PENANG GREEN OFFICE CERTIFICATION FOR SOUTH ISLAND GARMENT SDN BHD

16 August 2023 – Water Watch Penang (WWP) has organised the Aqua Save Awareness Education Programme for Penang Green Office Certification for the South Island Garment Sdn Bhd factory on the 16th of August 2023.

The programme was held from 9.30 am to 11.00 am with a total of 31 employees participated in the programme.

Besides, rather than simply getting the Penang Green Office Certification, the goal of the talk is also to create a deeper knowledge for corporate workers and empower them on the importance of being water smart in their everyday operations. The talk also seeks to help personnel towards certification based on Aqua Save assessment standards.

Dr Hong Chern Wern, Executive Manager of WWP, began the talk by presenting WWP’s history, aims, and previous actions. He also thanked South Island Garment Sdn Bhd for the CSR donation to WWP last year which has enabled various education programmes for schools in Penang.

Aiming at awareness raising, he also spoke on global, national, and local water challenges, as well as various types of water-saving devices. WWP also gave away water saving kit provided by PBAPP to staff after explaining how to install them.

Dr. Hong also described the water audit methods, emphasising the components of water audit as well as how to perform water audits and minimise water use in workplaces, offices, and residences.

In keeping-up with the water saving campaign, the participants were shown the PBAPP’s most recent water-saving video.

Note: The Aqua Save Awareness Education Programme is a free lecture provided by WWP in partnership with the Penang Green Council (PGC) and the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) for firms that have signed up for Penang Green Office accreditation. The scheme, which began in 2009, is a PBAPP effort in partnership with the Penang State Government to acknowledge industries and organisations that are devoted to water conservation measures.
