WWP conducted a river and water education programme at Han Chiang High School

13 APRIL 2023 – Water Watch Penang successfully conducted a river and water education programme for students from Green Education Society, Han Chiang High School on 13th April 2023.

WWP Executive Manager Dr Hong Chern Wern began the programme by introducing WWP’s history, goals, and past activities. He also explained to the students regarding the water crisis around the world, water treatment processes, water conservation, water-saving technologies and other water-related issues.

A total of 29 students and one teacher advisor attended the river and water education programme from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Furthermore, the programme also included a classroom activity where the students learned how to read the water bill. The teacher advisor, Madam Lee Bee Choo prepared some water bill samples for the students so that they could attempt to calculate the daily water consumption per person per day.

The river and water education programme is a collaborative effort with Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP). The programme involves not only national schools but also private and international schools from this year onwards.
