International Day of Action for Rivers – 14th March 2021

“This is a day dedicated to solidarity – when diverse communities around the world come together with one voice to say that rivers matter. That communities having access to clean and flowing water matters. That everyone should have a say in decisions that affect their water and their lives. That it’s our time to stand up for these rights, now more than ever” (Source: https://www.internationalrivers.org/)

Water Watch Penang would also like to take part in the International Day of Action for Rivers by sharing a video on celebrating the Sungai Ara river at Taman Jajar, Penang. This river is one of the few remaining clean rivers accessible to the public, and is currently protected by the community staying surrounding the park. Protecting and conserving the rivers are synonymous to protecting our own health, rather than spending thousands and millions to clean up polluted rivers. Take action now! Voice out and protect your river!!
