Water and Climate Change: World Water Day 2020 amidst COVID-19

World Water Day has always been a much-anticipated event for us. It is the largest platform and opportunity for Water Watch Penang (WWP) to spread awareness on water issues and to an important extent, the environment. However, the emergence of COVID-19 has forced us as well as many other organisations to halt physical gatherings such as the one WWP intended to execute on the 4th of April 2020.

We must get creative. Even from home and considering the 2020 Malaysia Control Movement Order, each of us can still perform our part to spread awareness, reduce water usage and at the same time, fight the spread of COVID-19. Let’s get over this together.

Whether you choose to spend less time in the shower, participate in the #SafeHands challenge or even just cutting down on meat consumption, all of that are steps forward in the right direction towards a water conscious society.

Whatever you plan to do for World Water Day, don’t stop there. Earth never stopped spinning for us. It’s time for us to keep going, adopting better water saving habits and doing our part better in solving water issues.

Here’s the link to better understand how you can be a part of this year’s change.
