The Finale of Water Conservation Pitching Competition 2021 took place via zoom online and Facebook Live on the 22nd of April 2021 from 10.00am to 1.00pm. The half day feature packed finale consisted of online pitching from the five finalists from national universities and MRSM institutes to showcase their innovations towards reducing water consumption.

Denai Sungai Kebangsaan – Sempena Sambutan Hari Air Sedunia 2021 – 27 Mac 2021, Taman Jajar Sungai Ara.

The National River Trail in conjunction with the World Water Day Celebration 2021, was held on the 27 March 2021 at Taman Jajar Sungai Ara. Once awarded the cleanest river in Malaysia in 2021, the celebration was organized by the Penang State, Department of Environment, and officiated by Ybrs. Puan Sharifah Zakiah binti Syed Sahab, the Director of the Department of Environment, Penang.

MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE KEDAH’S PLAN TO ‘THROTTLE PENANG WATER SUPPLY’ – 26 MARCH 2021

WATER WATCH PENANG (WWP) views Kedah’s plan to build 14 water tanks along the Sungai Muda to ensure there is enough water for Kedahans and paddy farmers along the river (FMT March 24, 2021) as ill-conceived, unlawful, and endangering the livelihood of all Penangites and Penang’s economy. Although the Kedah government’s plan appears to ensure water security to Kedahans and its paddy farmers, there is no denying that this plan will drastically reduce water supply in Penang as the quantity and quality of water flowing into Penang in the Sungai Muda would be significantly reduced. Hence, this outrageous plan has been described as an “act of war” and a form of political vengeance “To ‘throttle’ Penang water supply” by some politicians/leaders.
