(1)  Malaysian Environmental NGOs (MENGOs) National AGM, 2-3 Mac 2007, Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya. Invited to present a paper titled “Water Watch Penang: Vison, Objectives and Current Activities”  

(2) International Forum on Water Environment Governance in Asia – Technologies and Institutional Systems for Water Environmental Governance, 14-15 March 2007, Bangkok. Jointly organised by Ministry of Environment, Japan and Institute of Global Environmental Strategies (IGES).  Presented a paper titled “The Perbadanan Bekalan Air Pulau Pinang Sdn Bhd (PBAPP): A Good Example of Corporate Social Responsibility of a Private Water Company”. 

(3)  National Forum “Managing Challenges Towards Sustainable Water    Resources and Environment”, 26  – 27 March 2007, Shah Alam, Malaysia. Organised by ISIS Malaysia. Invited to present a paper titled “Catchment protection as a key towards sustainability of water resources in Malaysia”  

(4)  Asian Institute of Technology, Southeast Asia Urban Environmental Management Applications (SEA-UEM) Project, Post-Doctoral Fellowship Research Final Project Presentation, 11 April 2007, AIT, Bangkok. Invited to present a paper titled “A Comparative Study of Water Resources Management in Georgetown, Malaysia and Pattaya, Thailand with Emphasis on the Role of Women”  

(5)  Regional Training of Trainers (TOT) Course on Integration of Human Values-Based Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education (HVWSHE) Lessons in Southeast Asian Schools, 16-25 May 2007, SEAMEO RECSAM, Gelugor, Penang, Malaysia. Invited to present a Keynote Paper titled “Thematic Strand 3: Water, Human Dignity and Social Equity”

(7)  National Seminar “River Ranger – Training of Trainers” Northern Zone, Hotel Pearl View, Penang, 3-5 July 2007. Jointly organised by Global Environment Centre (GEC) and Drainage and Irrigation Department Malaysia (DID). Invited to present a paper titled “Involvement of Communities with Water Watch Penang (WWP) in Water Management in Malaysia”.   

(8) International Seminar “Water Watch Penang: Mobilising Local Communities in Water Conservation”, Corporate Section, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, 2 August 2007. Organised by Corporate Section, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Invited to present the above paper to a group of Korean lecturers and students from Gyeongsang National University, a student from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and USM students. 

(9)  National Workshop “Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Training Workshop”, 3-5 October 2007, Penampang, Sabah. Organised by Malaysian Environmental NGOs (MENGOs) and Malaysian Water Partnership. Funded by Global Water Partnership. Invited to present a paper titled “Demand Management: Application of Domestic Water Audit and other Water Demand Management (WDM) Strategies”. 

(10) Local Governmental Workshop “Establishing the Kemena River  Foundation”, Bintulu Development Authority, Sarawak, 5 October 2007. Organised by Sarawak Rivers Board and Bintulu Development Authority. Invited to present a paper titled “Kemena River Stakeholders Initiative”.

(11) International Conference 3rd Southeast Asia Water Forum, 22-26 October 2007, Kuala Lumpur. Presented poster paper titled “A Comparative Study of Water Conservation in Hotels in Georgetown (Malaysia) and Pattaya (Thailand).” Jointly organized by JPS Malaysia and Malaysian Water Partnership. 

(12) International Conference “Water Mobilising Programme – 2nd World Citizens’ Assembly on Water”, 5-7 November 2007, Marseille. Invited to present 2 papers (i) “Partnerships in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) –A Case Study of Water Watch Penang”; (ii) “Non-Governmental Organisations’ (NGOs) Participation in Water Resources Management in Malaysia”.

The Treasurer reported that the accounts balance for the year ended 31st December 2007 was RM 92,413.25.

The report was approved to be adopted.

6. Other Matters 

1.      Dato Dr Anuar suggests to put up  a book by Chan Ngai Weng  and Larbi Bouguerra (EDS) World Citizens’ Assembly on Water: Towards Global Water Sustainability  book on WWP websites and agreed by members.

 

2.      Establishment of Water Academy.  The meeting agreed that the WWP should be part of the board members and organize proper programs and ways to sustain the academy.

 

3.      Anti plastic bottles campaign. Plastic bottles will become a big issue in future. Therefore during World Water Day 2008 the meeting suggested to supply drink to public in biodegradable bottle or packet. A permanent bottle would replace commonly distributed souvineers such as caps and T-Shirt  because the bottle is reusable.
